The Cold Hard Truth

http://www.thedailyreporter.com/communities/coldwater/x31869374/First-in-Print-Why-is-America-s-divorce-rate-the-highest-in-the-world

This news article has a quote that explains my point of view perfectly:

Michael Reagan, the son of Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman, wrote of his parents’ divorce:
“Divorce is where two adults take everything that matters to a child — the child’s home, family, security, and sense of being loved and protected — and they smash it all up, leave it in ruins on the floor, then walk out and leave the child to clean up the mess.”

Children are left with a sense of resposibility for the divorce that infulences almost everything they do in the future. The rates in America are the highest in civilized world for a variety of reasons, but the devastation created goes almost un-noticed until it is too late.

In Her own Terms

This article/interview sums it up pretty nicely.  When a divorce occurs the adults do stop to think how the kids lives will change, but I don't think they fully comprehend the psychological changes the children go through. As this young girls says, seven years later she is still being affected. A separation changes the very make-up of a child's psyche, to the point they cannot be the person they would have been had the divorce not happened. If we all stopped to think of the real issues children face through a divorce, I think we would all make different choices ans try not to be as selfish as we have proven to be.

Divorce affects children in more ways than one.  The reason for divorce greatly determines how children are affected, but regardless of the reason children are affected.  When there is violence in the parental relationship, children can become aggressive and take it out on others.  There are psychological, emotional, and physical affects that take place. Unfortunately, the law does not always side with the hurting people involved.

Natural Disasters

http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/30/severe.weather/index.html

It seems that every year there are more natural disasters than the last. Some people believe this is due to Biblical predictions, and others attribute this to global warming.  What ever the reason for these occurrences, there is no denying they are on the rise.  Personal beliefs aside, there is a natural fear of change and of natural disasters of which we have no control.

A Royal Obession

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/europe/04/29/uk.royal.wedding.kate.william/index.html

After all the attention devoted to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, I have to ask myself is this normal? I mean yes it is royalty, but not American. I don't really care what she wore and what he said when he saw her.  I can understand the English being obsessed with it and all the hoopla created there, but I really don't understand that event he Latin people in the U.S. dedicate so much time to an event that has no effect on anyone here. I would understand a clip or two of the event, but days worth of commentary, overseas trips to London, and special broadcasts at 2 a.m. are a bit over-board in my humble opinion.
